The New Deal Cafe mourns the loss of our friend and champion, Barbara Simon, president of Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts (FONDCA).

Barbara made groundbreaking and impactful contributions to the arts at the Cafe, Roosevelt Center, and the greater Greenbelt Community. You can read more about Barbara's wide-ranging community involvement in this week's Greenbelt News Review, and help nominate Barbara for Greenbelt's 2016 Outstanding Citizen.

CORRECTED LOCATION: There will be a service and reception for Barbara on Saturday, July 16 at 11am, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 4512 College Ave, College Park, MD 20740.

Donations are being accepted in Barbara's name to ensure FONDCA's Arts and Music programs continue at the New Deal Cafe and Roosevelt Center.

Poetry Moment

Maryland, Washington D.C. and metro Virginia residents are invited to submit poems for our bimonthly Poetry Moment exhibit, posted in front of the cafe.

The Poetry Moment project is sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe (FONDCA), with support from the City of Greenbelt. For more information contact Leeann Irwin at or call (310) 801-9922.

A public reception for this exhibit will be held on Sunday, July 24th, from 3pm to 5pm.
