Wednesday, September 2nd at 7pm:Betty Ladas - singer-songwriter Betty Ladas comes to us from Nashville where her music has been desribed by the Beaumont Texas Press as "north of country, south of blues, a bit of humor and lots of heart".
Thursday, September 3rd at 7pm:Open Mic with Paige Powell!
Friday, September 4th at 8:30pm:Karikatura - with bright horns, socially conscious lyrics and booty-bouncing beats, this NYC band delivers a unique blend of Transglobal Soul. An organic synthesis of all the music heard blasting out of car windows and shops onto the streets of NYC, Karikatura lives where reggae meets klezmer, cumbia meets hip-hop and indie-rock meets afrobeat. Neither purist nor revivalist, this is music of the present, for the future.
Saturday, September 5th at 8:30pm:Gina DeSimone & the Moaners - eclectic, upbeat mix of music from all eras with a foundation on rock solid rhythm, chilling harmony and unstoppable energy!

National Poetry Month will be celebrated at the New Deal Cafe on Sunday, April 26, from 1 to 3pm with a reception featuring poetry readings, music, and refreshments. All are invited and the event is free. Poets whose works have been displayed during the past year in the Poetry Moment Box, located outside the New Deal Cafe, will be present reading their poems. There will also be an open mic for other poets to read their work.
The Poetry Moment project is produced by local writers, and is sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe (FONDCA), with support from the City of Greenbelt.
