Greenbelt Artists Studio Tour and Group Show Reception
Greenbelt is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2012! We are delighted to announce this exhibition opportunity as part of year-long series of events. It is the hope of the 75th anniversary committee that these events will reflect the richness and complexity of Greenbelt today, as well as our visions for the future. The goal of this exhibit is to give artists an opportunity to share their work with the community, and to continue to build a community of artists in Greenbelt. The exhibit will also include awards; the 75th anniversary committee will be presenting cash awards as merited by the exhibition entries and at the discretion of the jurors. This event will include a group show of works by artists who have studios in Greenbelt. The show will be at the New Deal Cafe from March 6 - April 30, 2012. On Sunday, April 15, 2012 there will be an Open Studio Tour for all artists exhibiting in the show from 2-5pm. This will be a self-guided tour in which the public is invited to visit the artists in their studios. Maps and information will be provided at the cafe that day. In the evening, from 7-9pm, we will continue celebrating Greenbelt artists with a reception at the Cafe with live music and refreshments and the announcement of awards. Key Information
Eligibility/RegistrationThis exhibit is open to all artists and craftspeople, 18 years and older, who have a studio in Greenbelt. Participants do not have to LIVE in Greenbelt, but you must have a studio here. Your studio could be at the Community Center, in your GHI home, Old Greenbelt apartment, Greenbelt East, or Greenbelt West - as long as it is in Greenbelt. All participating artists will contribute one work of art to the group show, agree to host their studios on April 15 (rain date: April 22), and attend the reception that evening. Participants may register online by submitting the form below, or by filling out our paper application and dropping it off at the New Deal Cafe or mailing/dropping it off to Julia Wade, 154 Research Road. Julia Wade, Art Coordinator for the New Deal Cafe, will contact you as soon as you submit your registration to tell you about the next steps. Although the cut off date for registration is February 15, 2012, we hope that artists will not wait till then to register. There is a lot we need to do to prepare for this special event, so we ask that interested artists register early. Sale of Art WorksThe policy of the New Deal Cafe and of FONDCA (Friends of the New Deal Cafe Arts) has always been to encourage artists to sell their work at our shows. Participants in this event will be able to sell their work. We do not expect a commission, but participating artists are welcome to give a tax-deductable donation to FONDCA to help defray event costs. Artist Registration |
