Art on the Walls

The New Deal Cafe provides a venue for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. We have a showroom and glass display cases, and every other month new artwork is featured. Join us at a reception to meet the creative talent behind the next exhibit.

If you’re an artist, we’d love to talk to you about having a show at the cafe.

The cafe’s art exhibits are mounted by the New Deal Cafe Art Committee and sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts with support from Prince George’s County. Your tax-deductible donation to FONDCA supports art at the cafe.

January – February 2016

On display January 11th through March 6th, graphic art by Chrissy Wilkin in the back room and wearable fiber art by Russ Little in the front. A public reception for this exhibit will be held on Sunday, February 7, from 3pm to 5pm.

Scarves by Russ Little

Scarf by Russ Little

On display in the glass cases in the front room you’ll find wearable art scarves by mixed-media fiber artist Russ Little. The scarves on display all began as plain white cloth. Russ creates richly colored and patterned cloth using dye and paint in a wide variety of techniques, then transforms the cloth into art to wear and fine art for display. You can see more of his work on his website at russlittlefiberartist.com.
