Art on the Walls

The New Deal Cafe provides a venue for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. We have a showroom and glass display cases, and every other month new artwork is featured. Join us at a reception to meet the creative talent behind the next exhibit.

If you’re an artist, we’d love to talk to you about having a show at the cafe.

The cafe’s art exhibits are mounted by the New Deal Cafe Art Committee and sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts with support from Prince George’s County. Your tax-deductible donation to FONDCA supports art at the cafe.

We are delighted to announce this event as part of year-long celebration of Greenbelt. It is the hope of the 75th Anniversary Committee and the New Deal Cafe that these events will reflect the richness and complexity of Greenbelt today, as well as our visions for the future. The goal of this studio tour and exhibit is to give artists an opportunity to share their work with the community, and to continue to build a community of artists in Greenbelt. In addition, the 75th anniversary committee will be presenting cash awards as merited by the exhibition entries and at the discretion of the jurors.

The exhibit will be on display at the New Deal Cafe from March 6 – April 30, 2012. On Sunday, April 15, 2012 there will be an Open Studio Tour for all artists exhibiting in the show from 2-5pm. This will be a self-guided tour in which the public is invited to visit the artists in their studios. Maps of studio locations will be available on the day of the tour at the New Deal Cafe and at Ana Gasper’s studio, 6718 Village Park Drive in Greenbelt East.

In the evening, from 7-9pm, we will continue celebrating Greenbelt artists with a reception at the Cafe with live music by “Not 2 Cool Jazz Trio,” refreshments, and the announcement of awards.
