Art on the Walls

The New Deal Cafe provides a venue for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. We have a showroom and glass display cases, and every other month new artwork is featured. Join us at a reception to meet the creative talent behind the next exhibit.

If you’re an artist, we’d love to talk to you about having a show at the cafe.

The cafe’s art exhibits are mounted by the New Deal Cafe Art Committee and sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts with support from Prince George’s County. Your tax-deductible donation to FONDCA supports art at the cafe.

November – December 2013

Local artists Barbara Stevens and Dan Kennedy with be exhibiting their work in the New Deal Cafe from November 5th through January 6th. A public reception will be held from 7-9pm on Sunday, November 10th.

Red, Green, Blue

Barbara Stevens

My “Red, Green, Blue Show” 2013 has turned out to be kindred to my art FROM 1968/69. For a few years now I have been experimenting with multimedia, my photos of nature “gestalts” and more, sometimes playing with computer programs, “collaging”, adding painted areas, going into my older Green Paintings and my photos and found images from everywhere -completely changing everything.

These new pieces are colorful like the 1960s . I feel I am finding important meanings and connections everywhere, plus this year I made a vow connected to a Peace Memorial Project in Greenbelt to make ART with our star.

Dan Kennedy

I’ve been a Greenbelter since 1969. I’ve been painting since childhood, using any medium available from crayons to eventually oil paints. My paragon of artistic virtue was American artist Eric Sloane. My current exhibit includes many recognizable scenes from Greenbelt and the surrounding area, as well as some of my three dimensional artwork.
