In Organic We Trust

Promotional photo

In Organic We Trust is an eye-opening food documentary that looks beyond organic for practical solutions for you and me. It takes a balanced approach to clear up misconceptions about organic food while highlighting practical solutions that are transforming the way we grow and eat.

Realizing that organic is not the all-encompassing solution to our health and environmental problems, the film maker travels all over the country to unearth inspiring stories of local family farmers dedicated to stewardship of the land, a thriving “locavore” subculture centered on farmer’s markets, chefs feeding children healthy school meals, and urban and school gardens sprouting up to bring fresh food to low-income communities.

Discussion leaders include: Dr. Angela Eakin, a family medicine physician with a strong background in nutrition and dietetics. Her practice is focused on prevention and management of chronic disease for all stages of life and the important role that nutrition plays in prevention and management of disease. Michele Touchet of Still Creek Watershed will discuss the organic school garden she helped to start at Greenbelt Elementary School.

The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine is committed to encouraging prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and cancer through empowering people and providing education. They have partnered with Reel and Meal for this screening of In Organic We Trust to help promote a change in school lunches.
