How to Start a Revolution highlights the work of Gene Sharp. Sharp taught that power relies on people’s consent—so if citizens act together strategically, even the most entrenched governments can be challenged peacefully. His “198 Methods” of nonviolent action include protests, strikes, boycotts, and civil disobedience. Movements from Serbia to Egypt have used these tactics successfully, proving that ordinary people can create real change without bloodshed.
The film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Note that the start time of 6:30 p.m. is earlier than usual.
The screenings are hybrid, in-person at the New Deal Café and via zoom. Those unable to attend in-person can register to watch via Zoom at https://tinyurl.com/ReelnMealNov2025.
